How Effective is HHC for Treating Gassiness?

We all pass gas from time to time, which is completely normal as it’s an important function of the human digestive system.  But, some of us may suspect that we’re passing more gas than what’s considered to be normal, and it may be paired with other symptoms like cramping and bloating, in which case it may be time to take action.

It may surprise you to learn that certain cannabinoids may help with excessive gassiness, both directly and indirectly.  Now, the question is, does hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) hold some promise in that department?  Let’s find out.

What Can Cause Excessive Gassiness and Bloating?

A lot of times, excessive gas and bloating, as well as cramping, are related to diet.  This can mean that a person is eating a lot of foods that cause excess gas to accumulate in the digestive tract, such as vegetables like garlic, cabbage and cauliflower, or legumes like black beans and chickpeas.  These foods contain complex sugar compounds that lead to gas development.  If you have a sensitivity to a certain food, such as dairy, you may experience unusual amounts of gas when you consume it due to digestive distress.

Then, there are individuals with underlying digestive disorders like small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), candida, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), who are prone to lots of gassiness due to a digestive tract that is lacking in the proper ability to digest triggering foods.  These conditions may require more specific medical attention.  Other culprits can include stress, which can disrupt the digestive process, as well as having an infection in the digestive tract.

    How is Gassiness Usually Treated?

Anyone who deals with frequent, uncomfortable gas should see a doctor who specializes in digestive health.  The right specialist can take a colonoscopy to see if there are any abnormalities in the digestive tract that would cause the symptoms, as well as help you understand what may be triggering episodes.  They can also do diagnostic tests to see if you have ailments that are responsible.  A doctor may just prescribe a medication to address the gassiness or the underlying issue, or simply advise you to make changes to your diet.  There are also over-the-counter products you can buy that can help you manage gas, including many that are completely natural and rely on plant-based enzymes or essential oils to reduce gassiness in the intestines.

Is HHC a Possibility For Your Gassiness or Bloating Problems?

Hexahydrocannabinol is a minor cannabinoid in the hemp plant that exists in the plant’s seeds and pollen.  It’s psychoactive, and many say that taking it feels just like they’ve taken delta 9 THC, in terms of its high and other properties.  To date, no research has been done to explore HHC’s potential, as the cannabinoid is just too new.  But, a lot of people have told us promising stories about how it’s helped them find relief, and as it is a cannabinoid that is supposedly similar to delta 9 THC, we can draw some pretty hopeful conclusions.

Hexahydrocannabinol may have antispasmodic properties like delta 9 THC, which can ease the smooth tissue of the digestive tract to make it less turbulent and gas-inducing.  At the same time, it may offer anti-inflammatory properties, as is common with virtually all cannabinoids we know of so far, to potentially address excess gassiness caused by gut inflammation – the underlying cause for conditions like IBS, colitis, and Crohn’s disease, all of which can come with gas-related symptoms.

Now, if you’re on a medication for your digestive system, or otherwise, we do recommend talking to your doctor first before working hexahydrocannabinol into your routine.  That’s because HHC could have a suppressant effect on CYP3A4, an enzyme that breaks down half the medications we take.  With low levels of this enzyme, the patient may end up accumulating too much of a medication in their body, leading to potential toxicity in extreme cases.

Question Still Remains: Is HHC a Potential Option for Those Suffering from Excessive Gassiness?

Overall, hexahydrocannabinol may or may not have a direct part in managing gas and bloating – that remains to be seen, and hopefully more research will come out soon to show us whether or not it can tackle this issue specifically.  But one thing that has been proven through research is HHC offers some potentially powerful anti-inflammatory effects that can work toward improving digestive function if inflammation is the cause of your gassiness and bloating.  And, of course, it doesn’t hurt that HHC provides some euphoric properties.  Again though, we recommend seeing a specialist initially to diagnose the condition and asking them about using HHC in a potential effort to find relief.  From there, if given the okay to do so, you can check out all the top-quality HHC products available at Gas!
